Welcome to Sharing Arts & Heritage

This international conference investigates how cultural education and cultural participation relate to challenges of access, social cohesion, heritage and cooperation. How can we best channel our research and policies to promote an open, inclusive, resilient European society?

We invite professionals, researchers and policy makers in cultural education and participation to join us in Leeuwarden.

Leeuwarden, the Netherlands

European Capital of Culture 2018

This year Leeuwarden-Friesland, together with Valetta (Malta), is European Capital of Culture 2018. So what better place for European professionals and policy makers in cultural education and participation to meet? Lonely Planet recognised Friesland as one of Europe's 'hidden gems' and best places to visit. “Iepen Mienskip is the overall theme of our programme: Leeuwarden-Friesland 2018. Through hundreds of projects, we illustrate the iepen mienskip to the Netherlands and the rest of Europe; a self-willed and committed community who pay attention to each other's ideas, opportunities and challenges. Iepen means open, in other words we don't stay hidden away in our little corner, but we gaze outward and collaborate. Iepen means cooperating with others on a local, national and European level. It means being open to those around you.” Read more on Leeuwarden-Friesland, European Capital of Culture.
